This looks like some kind of multiarch related issue. I don't know why
i386 odbc packages would end up being selected.

This issue still persist on Precise i386 logged as gnome-classic:

When I set my display to a small resolution (like 1024x768) and push it to the
side I can reproduce the bug.
Doing that just by trying to resize the window will not work as there is a
minimal size that will be honored.

It's difficult to tell: I only get this when autologin is enabled.
It's probably worth noting that this only happens when restarting (as
opposed to shutting down, and then pressing the power button to turn
back on).

should land in Ubuntu precise in the new few days.
