The target media in question was a 16GB Transcend Ultra-Speed USB stick.
Now the stick was working fine under normal use in windows. Although I
am using it on a brand new AMD Fusion laptop HP Pavilion dm1-4100.
I could install Ubuntu when I tried again. However it crashed at some
point, it
I used MD5sums for windows and it matches the original. Since that
error, I attempted another install over whatever what already there by
wiping it and starting it over. It was successful that time, no errors
or notifications. Afterwards, I was able to fully update and add
additional drivers.

Running Freeciv-GTK under 12.04 with Unity.
After using Alt-Enter to get into full-screen mode there is no way back.
Alt-Enter no longer works and critical menus can no longer be activated.
Freeciv developers respond that bug is with Unity, not Freeciv.

I have just tested on 12.04 beta2 and it is all good. I installed on
10GB disk with one BTRFS partition (9GB) and 1GB of swap. No problems at
all, installation completed fine
