How can this be medium?? It's been going on for 2 years now! I've still
got the same issues since upgrading to 12.04 from 10.04. All 10.04
ubuntu clients are the same, but the server is now 12.04. I have gig
clients as well as a couple of 54Mb wireless G bridge clients that also
lock up and die.
Can you tell who marked those bugs as duplicates? If it wasn't Robert
Ancell, they could probably be unmarked. There's a possibility the same
codepath is involved in being at the greeter vs. in a session, but he's
likely the only person active here who would know for sure.

Bugs,
update-grub and os-prober detects only one O/S, the one located on
sdb1 while Ubuntu was intact on both disks. That may be (?) related
to the same problem.
Removed the second disk and run grub-install after live CD boot, new
disk sda1 starting now ok but no idea about root cause. When booting

Thank you for your patience and understanding here. Indeed the request
you've made is for a small configuration change and thus the extra
testing of mainline kernels and apport collect information wasn't
entirely necessary in this case. Just for some extra background

Same initial panic -- this time, though, I can see other kernel traces

I use Hebrew UI on my system.
When I launch synaptic from gnome-shell (pressing the Windows key and typing
synaptic), it is opened with an English UI. See attached screnshot.
When I launch synaptic using sudo synaptic from terminal, it is opened with
Hebrew UI.
