@Matthew,
At least bug #86 seems to have the same core problem.
I've published a workaround in bug #86 that i'm going to copy here,
and fix this bug (#861171) and bug #86.
I think the problem is only related to PolicyKit, because this doesn't
handle correctly the 'auth_admin_keep'
Workaround:
As I've commented previously, this partial solution is to modify this
file:
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.consolekit.policy
and change:
auth_admin_keep
to:
yes
Edit the file /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.consolekit.policy

I see this bug has triaged a lot of packages/apps.
I think this is a PolicyKit only behavior, and could be some related
issue with greeter (lightdm o gnome) related on how to handle the

The rest of packages/apps should be, imho, freed from this bug.

Hi all,
Found that there is an equivalent - almost identical thumbnailer setup
for Mate.
Still locate /usr/share/thmbnailers/raw.thumbnailer.
only the Exec line is different in that /usr/bin/thumbnail is used in
stead of gnome.

[Thumbnailer Entry]
Exec=/usr/bin/thumbnail -s %s %u %o
/usr/bin/thumbnail provides same support as /usr/bin/gnome-raw-
thumbnailer

Barry Matthias, thank you for attempting to test the mainline kernel.
Did this problem not occur in a Ubuntu release prior to Precise?

Bugs,
Found a very strange workaround.
In this example the VM name is VZ02-zentyal
To reproduce:
1) save a copy of /etc/libvirt/qemu/VZ02-zentyal.xml
2) edit this file with sudo virsh edit VZ02-zentyal
3) add in the device stanza this definition (taken from a VM created with
Kubuntu 11.04)
disk
this fix is no more needed in Quantal.. it is necessary to install
xserver-xorg-video-modesetting and there are no more conflicts with
vt.handoff and plymouth.
Is it possible to include this package in the default installation?
