I run unity which has a horizontal panel on the top of the screen. The panel
has an area for notifications. I don't know if it is ystray icon or unity
styled indicator, I guess it is what comes by default when you install a new
system because I have this problem on multiple computers.
I tested it with Gnome Classic as already mentioned in the description,
so that's why I set it as a Compiz issue, because I have it there too.
And I tested it with Gnome Shell with Mutter, no problems there.
I think the priority should be high on this one because Steam is coming
to Ubuntu. And if

keyboard layout rules which are placed in
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.extras.xml.
