It definitely is the .svg despite my earlier statements. I think if you select
an icon by svg it gets cached. If you put a desktop file with
/usr/share/xdiagnose/icons/microscope.svg as the icon, and then try to add that
one, it will crash.

Same issue for me with also a Realtek ALC883. The microphone doesn't work
anymore after upgrade to 12.04
The 2 capture options were already turn on so #4 doesn't help for me and not so
keen on redoing a fresh install ...

Horrible. We do not see this idiocy on Debian Systems, it is an UBUNTU
problem. Apparently they re-packaged it without knowing what they are
doing. Mint exists because why. Please make your changes much miloder,
and concern yourself with the source. If they aren't doing it, then
your new ideas
This bug in NOT fixed as stated! Where are the QC techs that were

Can we get this resolved?
Adding the PPA for jon-severinsson-ffmpeg is NOT an alternative because
it breaks ffmpeg for the whole system and other applications that depend
