I just upgraded to 12.10 from 12.04, and now my login isn't working.
When I log in with the incorrect password, it tells me that it's wrong,
but when I log in with the correct password, it just brings be me back

I've tried recreating this bug with precise and was unable to, given the

Moreover
Kernel test install 3.6.2 produces the same results. Phone is not
detected. Other USB devices do work and are mounted. lsusb with new
kernel produces the same code as when nothing is plugged in:

Well, first of all, thanks for not closing this bug depiste I reported
it some 5 odd years ago !
In 5 years the following changes have happened :
1) I regularly upgraded Ubuntu, but the bug got worse : instead of
reporting constantly a 22 Deg temperature, it now reports nothing at all
Forgot : I did try this appor-collect thingy you mentionned, but
unfortunately it crashed, sorry.

you switch into a text control (use ctrl-alt-f2 to switch to a text console and

unfortunate that it crashed Xubuntu 12.04. :( As an alternative, could you
please try executing at a terminal:

All jobs stopped, epson_inkjet_printer_filter failed
To manage notifications
(1) on my quantal (working laptop) I do not get a failure. Main, Universe,
Multiverse, Restricted, Security, Partners (-updates and -proposed) enabled.
(2) on a fresh install of Quantal I do get it Main, Universe (-updates enabled).

Oh, I forgot to add this: on the new install, I *only* got it after I
disabled the default enabled repositories to just main and universe.
