I had the same problem, but know it is solved if I don't use the oxygen-gtk
style in GTK+ styles.
Try for instance human-clearlook for the applications that use GTK styles.
There must be a problem with oxygen-gtk.

dconf to gconf. Unfortunately the types are different, so anything
accepted by dconf probably won't actually work once it's written to
gconf. This was exposed

If you were fed up with updates etc. overwriting the file, you could
always add a script that overwrote the file on each boot - adding this
to /etc/rc.local would do it (before 'return 0':

Practically speaking, the Software Center the Dash use the same method
for showing search results (the .desktop files).
Technically, the Software Center uses a periodically compiled database
of the .desktop's to speed up search but that shouldn't make a lot of
