I just tried installing 304.60 from

install of Xubuntu 12.10 amd64 with no xorg.conf. Brightness controls
did *not* work, as usual, so I'd say it isn't fixed.

I did not confirm my own bug report. If you look at the history,

people said that it affected them.

This was not an upgrade to quantal, but a dist-upgrade of quantal, because of a
package had to be removed. Sorry if this was not obvious.
The file you mention was last touched in august:

so this won't help us.
I had the same problem using a Ubuntu 12.10/Gnome 3.6/Radeon HD 6650M
/fglrx-updates set up. None of the workarounds worked for gnome-shell
(although they worked when using Unity).
My workaround was to uninstall gnome-screensaver and replace it with
xscreensaver.

Software Updater checks for updates whenever it is run. There doesn't
seem to be any way to prevent that, short of manually interrupting the
check every time. Even if the user clicks Settings... and sets

"PRIVHEAD" string at beginning of sector, it is now deleted, checked few
