Browsing the eglibc mailing list archives I notice[0] that the eglibc
resolver has been enhanced[1] such that if /etc/resolv.conf's mtime
changes then the client is asked to re-initialize the resolver state. I
haven't tested the code, but if I understand the feature correctly
I have managed to reproduce the apparent hangs, the recovery mode issues
I have not; if they still exist they should be filed under a different

Following a comment in an apparently related bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/776999), I also
tried nox2apic in the /etc/default/grub and re-enabled VT-d. This also
works and isn't as extreme as turning acpi off completely.

Apart from a new version, the changes add new packages for the extra
language files in version 0.6+. These are distributed under somewhat
different paths that in the old package, hence the new package names.
I have followed the same names as the maemo packaging guys did.

My guess is that we are started early and the window is not sized
properly right away. Not sure yet how to deal with that.
