I also have this bug with ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, mint edition, and an ati
r5770. This bug usually happens after a long period of idle, i never had
this freeze while doing cpu intensive applications for example. The
freeze is a complete lockdown, no mouse or keyboard, and the screen

I am using mdadm to manage a Raid10 volume. One disc is missing at the
moment. When i start the system mdadm is telling me this and ask me if
i want to boot the degraded raid anyway. The problem i am facing that
the keyboard is not working there. its working in the grub-menu
the affected system is a normal ubuntu 12.04 amd64 server edition
without a gui
