It would appear I've fixed this bug after a couple of days of learning
to use Qt Creator Designer. The three labels were not linked to their
respective controls, preventing the shorcut keys from working and
causing the ampersand (amp;) to appear in the UI. Patches attached
address the following:
This patch repairs the broken keyboard accelerators on the first tab,
adds a user-friendly window tile, and slightly resizes the Frequency
text box.
** Patch added: Fix user interface displaying unwanted characters
This patch fixes a minor warning:
../alsoft-conf-1.4.3/src/speaker.h:49: Warning: Class SpeakerItem
implements the interface QGraphicsItem but does not list it in
Q_INTERFACES. qobject_cast to QGraphicsItem will not work!
** Patch added: Fix a non-fatal warning while I'm at it
Now when we tell other people that bugs in open-source projects are
fixed rapidly, they can laugh ...
Seriously, Alacarte needs to have its own item editor, it's non-sense to
install a deprecated package to get the job done.
Just copy-paste the damn piece of code from gnome-panel into alacarte.

The problem is cause by gsd-backlight-helper - it query udev for
backlight devices, and then pick the first device with type
firmware, platform, or raw.
When running on this mahcine (Asus X101CH), it find these devices:
1. firmware: /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/backlight/acpi_video0
2.
sorry the syncing took longer than I expected, 0.2.6 is now available in
raring-proposed:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openblas/0.2.6-1~exp1
it would be good if you could give the packages a try too (click on amd64 or
i386 under Builds for the packages)
