After reading up some on ACPI, I decided it was that the system got
stuck in the BIOSs’ ACPI code. This is what the error message showed
and I also came to the (possibly wrong) conclusion that this error was
there all along and other kernel changes actually fixed

I think I am experiencing the same issues. When I use Remmina (remote desktop)
or VMWare player, and try to move windows to another screen or workspace, they
jump to seemingly random screens.
After some clicking and moving around, I often get the window on the screen I
want, but if I switch
I tried 8 different linux image versions (containing 3.6.6, 3.8.0,etc.)
but still kernel panic after opening firefox.
I did make make install on RT3290, I copied rt3290.bin.
What em I doing wrong? When I attach cable, everything is ok.

Tested 3.9 kernel and this seems to make the issue worse as now my
hardware has a delay on how long until connecting to networks becomes
available in the network manager menu.
