I think a second monitor increases the probability of freezes. Maybe because of
more GPU Memory usage. When I have connected a monitor to my laptop I have more
often a freeze. And if I work only with the laptop display I have seemingly no
freeze since using kernel version 3.8.2.

I tested the v3.8.2 kernel after a full upgrade of all installed
packages. The issue does no longer occur. I can boot, log into Ubuntu,
and lsmod shows that ivtv is loaded:
erwin@armadillo:~$ lsmod | grep ivtv
ivtv_alsa 13768 1
snd_pcm 102477 5
and this was with:

Now on Raring, the backlight is off after resuming from suspend. I have to run
the following (blind type) after resuming each time:
echo 978 | sudo tee /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
Also, the function keys to control the brightness setting still don't
work. They do on Quantal.

i've always had three workspaces. today i turn on the computer and only
one workspace is visible. i hit preferences and see that the number of
workspaces is displayed as three, but there is only one workspace
listed.

Yeah, I can get the OS Prober to recognize the Fedora volumes by first
mounting. However, the GRUB menu will not display them as an option during boot.
I've tried the following, and they do not produce expected results
(i.e., no menu entry for Fedora during
