Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.10 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

The e-mail account is at mail.crosswire.org. This account no longer has
an associated SMTP sending service. I use my googlemail account with an
alias to send e-mails. I can get the account recognised but when the
'Danger' notice appears, there is no checkbox, and the 'Done'
Looking through the recent comments, it seems that deleting
~/.freedp/known_hosts (or using FQDN) solves the problem.

Ah, in that case this may just be a bug with my setup.
$HOME/.config/autostart/ is likely read before any of those directories,
and I have a copy of gnome-settings-daemon.desktop in there. Thanks for
the information. I'll delete it and continue testing, but this bug is
probably invalid.

I have had this issue off and on for a couple of weeks. After much tearing of
hair and gnashing of teeth I believe I fixed it. In the upstart configuration
for isc-dhcp-server there is no stanza of the form:
/lib/init/apparmor-profile-load usr.sbin.dhcpd

they don't cause any regressions while the proposed kernel is being
tested, then you should see the updated kernel and backlight fixes go
