An independent tester has corroborated that the problem occurs for a
default Raring Ringtail installation with the i386 package. Several
testers have reported that the amd64 package is not affected.
Downgrading to 9.06 solves the problem.

On a Dell XPS One with Ubuntu AMD64 the preinstalled Win8 is not
recognized correctly by the ubuntu installtion routine. For this reason
no boot option for win8 is added into the grub boot loader. This bug can
be fixed with the boot-repair package.

Strange thing, it's working now.
