This has been forever the case, since I started using gnome classic on Ubuntu

Here is the problem description:
- when I left click on the wifi thingy in the applet, a menu drops down. There

- on hotplug, after start - every thing is ok. vga screen will be
recognised without problem.
- on coldplug. before power on - laptop screen is blank. vga - shows
part of oops message. X is not started, but machine is accessible over
ssh.

Not only gnome-shell hangs, but the whole NVIDIA video driver. I can
switch a text console (no visible output eighter), login blindly, and
kill -9 -1 for all my apps, this resets the video, and all visible
again. It happens several times a day. Very annoying...

The fix for this bug causes regressions related to autopilot handling. I
think the code in the fix is not entirely correct as well - it assumes
that when there are no windows visible, we are in showdesktop mode,
which is not correct.

Heh, UX31A I'm typing this at has 166 dpi.
Those who forced the 96dpi kludge into xorg should be forced to walk in
my shoes till the end of their lives with no chance to change those.

I had a cursory look at Math while ago, and my impression is that it is
a hopeless case, it has to be rewritten from scratch (at least the math
renderer) if any sane math rendering is to be achieved.

[i965gm] GPU lockup EIR:0x0010, followed by PLL state
The right way to fix this bug is to use several glyphs to draw the brace
e.g. one glyph for the top, one for the middle and one for the bottom.
The rest of the brace are two vertical lines that can easily be extended
to arbitrary size (e.g. by repeating a glyph for vertical bar or drawing
a line).
I'm seeing this bug on a compaq 6720s laptop after having upgraded the
CPU from celeron-550 to core2duo t7100 half a year ago. It nearly always
makes the laptop unuseable after logging in to a desktop environment (no
matter which one).
