I found the root cause for this problem
This machine has touchpad toggle function key (Fn+F6), its physical
scancode is 0xe0 0x71, its translated scancode is 0xf1, and udev rules
activates this function key in the /lib/udev/rules.d/95-keymap.rules:

I’m seeing the same problem. The browser prompts for authorization to
use the device’s location, but it seems the device is unable to provide
its location. I looked for satellite visibility updates in dmesg, but
couldn’t find anything relevant (`dmesg | grep -i sat` is empty).

It is an undesired behavior but no crash was observed.
The defect is 100% reproducible. Please perform the following steps to produce
the defect:
1) Go to System Settings
2) Click on Network
3) Click on All settings tab.

The issue here seems to be that unpinning an app pushes a zeitgeist
event with application scheme and full path to the desktop file. If a
desktop file is present in the standard XDG directories, the full path

After upgrading to 13.10 from 13.04 my computer booted into a black screen. I
could hear the login sound but couldn't see anything. Switching to some virtual
console isn't working either, nor was anything visible during the boot process.
I also tried to boot 13.10 from USB
Effective work-around:
* Keep the fictitious Laptop monitor.
* On the desktop, right click and select Desktop Settings
* Pick a background
* Select Stretch this background across all monitors.
For me, I achieved the effect that I wanted without actuallydisabling
the 2nd monitor (Laptop).
