Things still need to be tested to ensure these are working properly. We
tried to test the 14.04 images today, but, they don't contain the
updated grub packages, yet. Once they do, then we will know for sure
if all the fixes are in or if more work needs to be done.

While the actual backup files do get chmoded to 700, there is a race
there. Best is to restrict permissions on the directory.

Pretty sure I'm seeing the same issue with Ubuntu 12.04[.3] on a Lenovo

[Thinkpad X100e] Ctrl+Alt+UpArrow generates no
Public bug reported:
My keyboard layout gets swtiched back to US after a reboot if I hide the
indicator from the panel (no uninstalling).
It does not matter that I switch it back using setxkbmap.
The input settings displays the keyboard as set in the correct layout but It is
not, really.
I can confirm David's #17 workaround is effective,
though I didn't install ibus-clutter and ibus-qt4,
but instead I installed gnome-shell.
@David:
Thank you for your sharing.

See bug 1249649... apparently, according to the response there, it was
this failure to install tex-common properly that led to a complete
failure of the upgrade.
At the end I was left with a system that had lost half the desktop
information, had no sound, could not mount remote disks, and
Bibisect is useless since the bibisec code does not include the DE
integration. In fact I've tried and was not able to reproduce the bug,
that I can reproduce with the installed LiBo and -kde integration on the
same host.
