Chris Stratford, thank you for your quick response. Could you please clear out
the non-default kernel boot parameters, and test the following individually and
advise if it changes anything:
acpi_backlight=vendor
video.use_bios_initial_backlight=0
when only testing a mainline kernel v3.13.x+
Imo, this is rather high priotrity. The lack of UDP/IPv6 socket
activation is often used as a reason to use systemd instead of upstart.

did with the old 1.06 BIOS aren't considered valid for the purposes of
troubleshooting this bug. Hence, for regression testing purposes, could
you please test Lucid via http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid/
and advise
Just wondering. I am not familiar with the upstart codebase, but this
seems rather trivial to fix. Where is the problem here?
