I first successfully burned two big files to a DVD. I then removed one
of the files and added a third file in its place. When trying to burn
the second DVD, I noticed that the four options were suddenly gone (see
screenshot).

Title:
I did some bit of uneducated debugging.
It seems there is something going on with the GL/GLX and alpha bits.
The LWJGL code is creating a GLX window for its content.
I noticed that the screen displaying the logo on startup was entirely
translucent, without the 256x256 block in the lower left
Note that you can find the GL setup code here:
https://github.com/LWJGL/lwjgl/blob/master/src/native/linux/opengl/org_lwjgl_opengl_Display.c
somewhere around Java_org_lwjgl_opengl_LinuxDisplay_nCreateWindow

On opening up xubuntu 14.04 the cursor/pointer arrow freezes/locks up on
mewhen trying to put my password in on the logong window. Sometimes it
unfreezes but most of the time I'm locked onto that screen and I must do
a 'hard crash', aka shutdown the computer with the on/off button, I
don't like

FFe for this looks fine, uploading a current merge, so we can proceed
with the MIR based on this version with a slightly simplified
debian/rules.
