I worked around it by using k3b to Copy Disc to the hard drive as an iso.
Then mounted the iso and used HardBrake to rip the contents.

The first issue was the partitioning left no room for the grub on /dev/sda as
Philip mentioned.
( I no longer get grub-install /dev/sda' failed ) Thanks Philip
Now the original setup does

I'm sorry Yotam. Linux Mint 17 Qiana with an Xfce 4 desktop is not the

Not a power user here, but I know when my machine is stammering while
silent. System monitor revealed 45% cpu usage idling on the desktop.
Moving cursor pushes it to 100%. Ran 11.4 previously, but support ran
out and things started to fall apart. 14.04 is only OS on drive that ran

strangely a custom symlink for nvidia_drv.so in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/
and changing
