I upgraded to kernel 3.13.0.32.28 (3.13.0-32-generic) after getting a
message about hardware updates for my system was coming to an end of
life and I should do a hardware update. Normally I use apt-get
This bug needs to be fixed for those of us that don't use unity and only
rely on gnome-shell. The problem seems to have been diagnosed to compiz,
and thus the fix should be focused there so that it's not unnecessarily
tied to unrelated packages (i.e. unity, as was the fix mentioned above).

Well, that's a nice way to close bugs. Just ignore them for 60 days,

This happened to me during a distribution upgrade from 13.10 (saucy) to 14.04
(trusty). When it happened, the release upgrade tool interrupted itself with a
dialog box containing this alarming and not very helpful message:

The upgrade has aborted.

When this was set to Private Security, only you and the Ubuntu security
team, and select administrators, could see the issue. I marked it public
because thousands of people have filed private security issues and
received plain text emails; it's not a secret. (There's not much that

favor of always using D-BUS activation.
