Hello,
I have a problem trying to install the Universal Scanner Driver (multifunction
SAMSUNG SCX-3405) on an HP AMD 64 notebook, with Xubuntu 14.04 LTS-AMD 64Bits.
The scanner is not detected. The sw is regularly updated.
On another machine, with the same Xubuntu 14.04
Rebooted once at 3.16.0-17 O.K.
Do note the external monitor I typically use comes up with garbage all
over the screen for some time before compiz/Unity/X screen appears.
Compaq WF 1907 HP 19 1440x900. Built-in Acer screen, off, is 1368x768
I think.

I got this exact error when I removed kernel 3.16.0-14-generic as I had 3
kernels installed.

error like it didn't properly install the nvidia driver but this is what was in
the output indicating that the driver was

kernel was bigger than yaboot could handle. that may NOT be the problem,
but it needs some testing.
there's some talk of going to grub2 as a default bootloader rather than
yaboot but it's extremely doubtful that will happen in

64-bit machine, so this issue is limited to the 32-bit kernel.

This is actually xfce4-notiyd is the package for this not lxpanel that

Found a working kernel: on Ubuntu 14.04 live system with
3.13.0-24-generic I can run ddrescue which found 50 errors on the HDD
so far, but the error doesn't occur and ddrescue proceed - slowly, but
at least it does! Here's the thing: running the 3.13.0-24-generic kernel

I am able to reproduce this bug with the lubuntu and lubuntu-dark panel
gtk2 widgets but using any other widget works as a workaround.

For those wondering, a bug is considered fixed in Ubuntu once a fix for

After having iwlwifi problems of constant disconnections every 30 or so
minutes, I tried going to
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi to install the
latest Intel® Wireless 7260 firmware for my kernel version at
