Found the issue, i had four NTFS partitions auto mounted with ntfs-3g in

amd64 desktop dvd image. I upgraded it from utopic to devel, which

I found two workarounds.
Workaround 1)
On Xubuntu 14.10 using Thunar 1.6.3 file manager I managed to stop the
automatic remount of unmounted USB 3.0 drives using USB 3.0 ports.
In Thunar: Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> "Configure the management of
removable drives and media." -> "Storage" ta
Got the same issue on linux kernel 3.16.0-25-generic (x86_64) as well.
After the error, i used the following command:
sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.16.0-25-generic --reinstall
This time the command succeeded without errors or warnings.

The frequency of the problem has dropped considerably after moving to a
less congested channel, but it still happens - I am stationary at about
3 meters from the access point. Other devices (Android
- but connection dropped twice while compiling this bug report. That is
unusual, though - I now experience two or three drop-outs per day,
before changing away from the most congested channel, I had at least one
per hour.
The neighborhood is very crowded in the 2.4 GHz band.
