I had a hunch it might work when I saw Chrome under the applications
settings under sound settings. Tried it several times - close Chrome,

Atheros BT devices(ath3k) fail to work on USB3.0 buses
I updated the BIOS after installing Win8 x64 succesfully,then I
reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04.1,I am happy to report that the shutdown prolem
is finally solved,thanks a bunch :)
although the BIOS update succesfully solved the situation,I will still
post the outcome of dmidecode -s bios version and

Note that automatic updates (e.g. unattended-upgrades) will even more
likely bring you into this situation. And because of bug #1267059, even
then you set 'Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies true'. Not
good for a LTS.

automatic brightness code should wait for any dimming to (a) persist for
longer (e.g. 4 seconds) or (b) to be less volatile (e.g. turning off a
light switch results in less-volatile dimming than moving your hand over
