for me, and also in the upstream steps to reproduce.

I can also confirm this behavior on a Lenovo Thinkpad T440s (Haswell Core
i7-4600U) with the 15.04 alpha and the default kernel.

I can confirm this in Comsol Multiphysics, and various versions of
eclipse and liclipse, on Kubuntu 14.04 64-bit. Really serious bug. The
Eclipses tend to crash during debugging but it seems random. Comsol used
to run for a while before crashing but now crashes as soon as you create
a new blank mod

Seems related to this, after using schroot with overlay on /dev/shm, I
end up with multiple /dev/shm mounts on top of one another.

Looking at lots it seems ubiquity-dm is failing because X just doesn't
want to start.
Trying with ubuntu daily-live current (which is from March 6th) it
starts X successfully but it doesn't show ubquity-dm and it uses upstart
not systemd-sysv so that's not much of a metric.
