FTR, this is unrelated to pid1. The issue is that older versions called
dh_installinit which added the invoke-rc.d call to postinst. Current
version calls dh_installinit --no-start, so the update wouldn't happen
right after package installation under any init system.

Ubuntu 15.04 x64, just happened to me.
Have same error: get_secrets_cb(): Failed to request VPN secrets #2: (6) No
agents were available for this request.
Workaround in #34 helped for me.

The likely reason is that Greybird disables button images in its gtkrc:

Feel free to switch that 0 to a 1 in the theme and see whether that
helps your case.

I too think this is a systemd-related problem. It was running 15.04 a
while before this occured and i do not think it is a coincedence. We
have another laptop here recently updated from 14.10 to 15.04 which
introduced the same problem.
