I may have found the solution. The default disk size for Ubuntu VMs in
VirtualBox is 8 GB, which seems to be on the low side. Apparently the
Kubuntu installer can't deal with that restriction. (Making half of it
an unnecessary swap partition on the first round is clearly a symptom of

I also encounter this bug on fresh Kubuntu 15.04 install. I'm on SSD I don't
know if the daemons starting speed has somthing to do with this.
I suppose NM gets the DNS info (from DHCP), tries to notify dnsmasq. Since
dnsmasq is not yet started it launches it but I don't see any retry afterwards

An other crash case:
with Wily, some upgraded packages does not end with a crash. But each time a
package upgrade is calling libc6-bin (lastest called process seen inside the
install dialog box from synaptic) i'm getting a freeze for a few seconds then
crash with the same reported here.

Silly me. Mir seems to be behaving correctly, although I can think of some
improvements. The real issue here is that dynamic double buffering relies on
the compositor (over)scheduling enough frames for the performance detection to
work. That means calling:
Actually qtmir can possibly keep using if
(m_surface-buffers_ready_for_compositor(userId) 0)
as it does already.
The problem then is that Mir reduces the return value of that function
prematurely if called in that way. So maybe some fix is still possible

In my situation (and old GeForce Go 6400), with a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04
(some weeks ago all worked ok):
1) with nouveau drivers I can login but using dash hangs X (strange visual
effects)
2) switching to nvidia makes screen blank at login
I only solved switching to gnome from unity.
