Let me reiterate that the problem exists only when suspending from menu:
sudo pm-suspend has never crashed, so far.
I suspect the broadcom driver is involved here, as it looks wifi is
involved in suspend from menu. There have been other crashes, for

If I boot a live system and then plug the controller in, the system
freezes/crashes. Switching onto workspace 1 also isn't also possible.

On my laptop I tried UEFI and BIOS. In UEFI it would not give an error -
it would just ignore the usb stick and go directly into the usual
Ubuntu. I take this to mean that in UEFI it is intelligent enough to
know that something is wrong, but rather than giving an error, it just
ignores the usb
I forgot to mention that I use startup disk creator. I don't know what
dd is or how it is different from startup disk creator.

following error:

Hi,
The unity backlight control still changes the value of
/sys/class/backlight/eeepc/brightness, but the 4.2 kernel that comes with
Ubuntu 15.10 uses /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness instead. When
I change/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
