After setting the partition with gparted, I tried to install ubuntu
14.04 on a acer aspire laptop (r7-371t). The instalation seems to go on
perfectly, until it stops when installing grub on /dev/sda.

With identical smb.conf xenial cannot access the printer.
Xenial can access XP jpg images etc. so network connection to XP

I disagree with calling this a "Qt-specific API", since this is rather
Ubuntu-specific behaviour, oblivious of the toolkit. Qt might be the
default toolkit we're using, but clients using other toolkits (or none
at all) should be able to make use of this behaviour as well.
