This has been occurring for me now for several years. I have a large
amount of passwords stored in chrome. The high CPU usage never really
stops completely, as well as anytime chrome tries to retrieve a
password, I have to wait about 10 seconds.
The fix is to rename the gnome-keyring-daemon whic
I've tested the kernel in xenial-proposed installing the linux-
image-4.4.0-25-generic and linux-image-extra-4.4.0-25-generic (#44
versions) by aptitude and the issue appears to be solved.

I had the same problem as Camilo Gonzalez in post #5, on a netbook with Atom
270 cpu and Intel 954M graphics.
Solved by booting with nomodesdet option from the grub menu to get a low

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 and my notebook freezes occasionally. I am
running Ubuntu on an Acer Aspire ES1-411 (P6B1).

Yesterday I got an automatic update of kernel to 4.4.0.24 - still can't
suspend properly.
My system is Lenovo Z51 with Kubuntu (16.04, of course).
The problem disappears after switching to kernel 4.4.8.

@Jan Groenwald can you describe exactly what you mean by 'autoscale'?
What are you doing to show that it is working? I ask because I am still
seeing the problem, so if I select Video > Size > Double or Quarter it
does not change the image size. This is with XCB o/p and acceleration
disabled.

Testing the latest upstream kernel will tell us if this bug is already
fixed in mainline. If it is fixed, we can then work to identify the
commit that fixes the bug.
An alternative would be to perform a kernel bisect, which will identify
the commit that introduced the regression. However, that w
