To set my external display as primary I had to run "xrandr --output VGA1
--auto" and then to turn off the Laptop panel I had to run "xrandr
--output LVDS1 --off" and it worked but The GUI Display settings still
showing Laptop panel as primary Dislay and as active, lol.

Nah, the submitter was correct in targeting powerpc-utils. I renamed
powerpc-ibm-utils to powerpc-utils and powerpc-utils to pmac-utils to
avoid the constant confusion. Of course, this'll be differently
confusing for a while, but eventually we'll forget the old names. ;)

as expected, Hyper-V drivers loaded as expected including the
framebuffer driver, plenty of memory and vCPUs allocated, but x.org

OP here- forgot to mention, attempted use of ardour4, which found alsa
to be stopped. Pressed start button & it did. Then it failed.
Tried youtube video in firefox. Failed there too.

I'm the original submitter of this bug. I ended up reinstalling Ubuntu
14.04 because of this issue, as Gimp is an essential package for me and
it was unusable because of the crashes.
Today I tried installing the new Ubuntu 16.04.01 release in a spare
partition in the hope that it had been fixed,
