I had a side conversation with the guy who recently patched the goodix.c driver
( referred to above). He pointed me at
Error -121 is -EREMOTEIO.
I guess you use the DesignWare I2C driver (for Bay Trail), the only occurence
of that is in drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-designware-core.c.
A bit above it
Ubuntu personal store will need to be seeded. (see lp:1678249)
It will be a bit confusing to have this and the gnome-software store available
but not equally represented. Perhaps some UI design could help that.

I have the same issue on an HP Omen 15 notebook (15-ax201TX). I have a
duel boot setup to Ubuntu 16.10 and Windows 10. If I boot into Windows
10 first (even just to the login screen) and then restart and boot into
Ubuntu 16.10 the sound is fine - no crackling.

connect them aftewards. But if I turn them off then on again, it won't
