Ubiquity problem with encrypted home
Bad news.
Using 4.11-rc5 as a base and reverting the commit I previously mentioned
(0be275e3a5607b23f5132121bca22a10ee23aa99) does yield a mostly
functional kernel.
I say "mostly" because there is still a lone "unexpected IRQ trap" in
dmesg when the pinctrl driver loads, though the system boots
@Chad I checked my /var/log/apt/history.log. It showed that the
following chromium role-commit-package upgrades were performed:

I have exactly the same problem. Seems like Chrome 57 breaks with the
old plugin API. The plugin is installed but not working. It worked fine
in previous versions.

I'm experiencing this behavior with a Dell XPS 13 9360 Developer Edition
I'm not running xfce. I'm using stock Unity, but lightdm is running.

Confirm 4.8.0-47.50 from proposed works. There is no freeze/kernel
crash, and my rtl8192cu based wifi dongle works again.

17.04 showstoppers right now.
