I have accepted the xenial version (1.13.4-1ubuntu1.6) of this upload
just now. The usual tool for doing reviews has exploded so the usual
SRU-notification wasn't sent out - reason for that was that the
changelog mentioned an already Fix Released bug as being fixed by this
release here (LP: #156650
Brian, we can easily reopen this bug for xenial.
Because of how the appstream metadata works, it's difficult to test a
fix before uploading an attempt to -proposed.

Debian maintainer has committed the patch ^. [1]
Next step is to make sure Artful has the fix now, and then the SRU for
all affected supported stable releases can start.

DCMTK 3.6.1 has an option to use libiconv to support character
conversion. It looks like this option is explicitly turned on in the
rules file:
-DDCMTK_WITH_ICONV:BOOL=ON \
However, since the Debian package does not depend on libiconv, it is not
found during package buil
I support building with libsoxr.
