Last work-around didn't stick. Did some test and can reproduce the error
now easily in 17.04. Ubuntu reports it is the Indicator-datetime-service
that crashes when its the evolution calendar that is the problem. During
the system overload the problem can be fixed by killing all evolution
processes

Unfortunately all these issues are unrelated to the shell itself, but I
please you guys to report these crashes to the extensions authors (as I
already did in various cases, proposing fixes too).
In fact, what I suspect might have changed is the way gjs (or new

ppa/mainline/v4.13.8/ which is the mainline kernel that the artful-
proposed one I identified as bad is based on.
I ran 35 instances and rebooted them 30 times - all successful. So I
think that says this kernel is good.
