I took all the other DE's from my system, I think a lot of the problems
stemmed from running KDE Plasma from a backport. It pretty much
conflicted with every DE theme except cinnamon. There where still some
problems even after I removed it, but at least cinnamon works.

I got a weird problem in our setup. Every time I reboot Ubuntu systems
it is releasing its IP from the DHCP server. So the IP is getting free
in DHCP. Therefore in some cases DHCP is offering the same IP to other
system. And its then difficult to find the new IP assigned

It turns out that the commit mentioned on the previous comment is
necessary but not sufficient to fix the issue. The testcase also needs
to be fixed.
