The trackpad of my Lenovo E531 Thinkpad Edge works when logged into
18.10. When you close the lid the laptop normally goes into suspend (in

It's unlikely that assertion message is related to gnome-shell rejecting
mouse clicks. So I will reword the bug title...
The first thing to try is always to remove/disable your custom
extensions since extensions cause a large number of bugs. You have:
b'org.gnome.shell' b'enabled-extensions'
Please try running:
apport-cli _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.0.crash
and then copy and paste the link it (eventually) gives you into a web
browser on a different machine.
If for any reason that doesn't work then the next option is to look at

I have a very similar issue with Ubuntu 18.04.1. After a fresh install
and creating 4 users, the "switch user" feature does not work at all.
When I click on "login as another user", the screen goes blank
Uncommenting "WaylandEnable=false" line on /etc/gdm3/custom.conf left my
computer without booting the UI, it got stuck with the message "A start
job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (Xmin Xs/no
limit)", I was not even able to switch to terminals using CTRL+ALT+FX.

I hope you can fix it. This is super annoying for me and also a security
issue because I don't always notice that the dock got unresponsive and
also the locking does not work properly. I often press 'super+L' and
