@paelzer: OK, I will go with the revert. It still sounds that libvirt may need
a change to keep the lxc guest even with the systemd change in, so if you don't
mind I keep this bug open to track this.
If it turns out that libvirt does everything right then I'll be happy to
forward the issue to
with the new packages my problem is solved.
on more question in the next Ubuntu release for example 20.04 with a
newer apache version. it is possible that this kind of problem is
comming back again? because the patches are in the newer version from
apache.org.

with TPM enabled works. Installing Ubuntu from this live medium and
booting crashes with TPM init. Disabling TPM let the System boot. Kernel

after testing out some stuff, i found out, that the problem lies with the
ubuntu default window manager.
I tried using freerdp (the nightly version) with some different window manager
(e.g. IceWM) and its works fine with these.

To summarize (out of the noisy test log).
What happens with this patch applied is that libvirt looses its LXC-guest on
the restart of the service.
With the XML from the test this is what happens:
$ virsh define debian/tests/smoke-lxc.xml
$ virsh start sl
$ virsh list
Id Name State
Hmm, there isn't an obvious cgroup/lxd patch in upstream libvirt master
branch atm that would suggest itself as fix to test to apply to libvirt.

We failed to have consensus in Paris and I feel like it's getting late
now and we have enough other work to do to wrap the cycle so would
