I created a VirtualBox VM on Kubuntu 19.04, then installed Kubuntu 19.10
to the VM. The installer window is cut off on the right-hand side which

Oh damn, didn't realize nomodeset disables *everything* these days.
in any case, I'm on an optimus laptop with both intel and nvidia, and I
can switch between nvidia only, or optimus (both cards active) mode in
the bios. prior to 19.10, things worked fine. but after 19.10, things
have been an utte
Rather than editing /etc/grub/10_linux, I suggest adding this line to the
/etc/default/grub:
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
So the problematic if-then statement is not reached at all.
Don't forget executing "sudo update-grub" afterwards.
However, its still just another workaround...

I fear that GNOME is not the source of this issue. I had a look in the
settings and noticed that many shortcuts have been changed from default.
I did not do this manually. One suspicion is that it might got changed
when changing from Unity to GNOME in an Ubuntu upgrade.

Well after commenting out the lines in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and
rebooting it worked for me. But currently i can not reenable the
automatic login again. No matter what i do. Remove the comments, enable
the option in the users menu. nothing works. even enabling the option in
the users menu does litt

I have tried every setting I can find. The buttons remain invisible.
I run Ubuntu 19.10 with default unity desktop.
However.. when I changed to "Ubuntu on Wayland" in the login screen..
