I have no idea how this package ended up in Ubuntu.
It was never in Debian.
It is dead upstream, although there was 1.2.4 release like 4 years ago,
it still doesn't work with any recent boost, ffmpeg or scons.
I no longer wish to maintain it, and neither should anyone else

I tried to report this error by ubuntu-bug -w, but an error message
appears that can be seen in the gif
You mean I should try an older version? Then I think I should try v5.0.x
first. As you can see, it takes time to reproduce it again. I don't know
how to intentionally reproduce it.

PDF, evince 3.34.1 on Focal spends about 45% of its CPU time in
