When I press the super key to open the activities overview, chromium
does not appear, and is not found when typing to search for apps.
Actually, no snap installed apps are shown in the activities overview.
I was able to make one app (spotify) show by symlinking its .desktop
I'm having the same problem on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 3rd gen. On its own
it boots just fine, with two external monitors it never passes the
splash screen. However, the external monitors can be used without any
problems after booting the laptop on its own.

The cloning version of usb-creator introduced with Ubuntu Xenial (16.04
LTS) should work also in Trusty.
Other cloning tools work, so if you want to bother with this bug, I
suggest that you port that version to Trusty.

then they should not appear under the dock!

I've just had exactly the same problem trying to make a fresh install from a
bootable USB created with Ubuntu 18.04 Startup Disk Creator tool.
The option I chose was a fresh install using an entire SSD disk and ZFS
filesystem.
After the crash I killed ubiquity and a desktop session was opened. I
I can reproduce, 25-04-2015 installed from usb stick, keyboard layout
was properly detected and I tested it was fine, but in username password
screen layout was wrong. After installation layout was right.

I can reproduce the problem on a fresh new installed Ubuntu desktop
20.04 :
1) install package samba-common
which is currently version 2:4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1
2) add "client min protocol = NT1" to /etc/samba/smb.conf in [global] section
Note : required to access my NAS which only support SMB

I've just experienced this problem (or very similar) on a fresh install
of Xubuntu 20.04, on a Thinkpad x240.
On wake, I could move the mouse, and switch to a virtual console with
ctrl-alt-f1. The session would sometimes animate for a moment (e.g. a
notification about change in wifi), before
If you think it's so easy, why not try it yourself? snapd is free
software, and I'm sure the maintainers would be grateful for a patch
which fixes such a widely-shared issue.

I have fixed all the issues with this device (HP Pavilion x360
Convertible 14-ba0xx) with the following options:
- /etc/modprobe.d/alsa_base.conf
Add this: `options snd_hda_intel model=alc295-hp-x360` (this fixes the
bass speaker not working and the non-functional mute LED on my HP
