issue fixed...i think.
cheese: had to select a matching resolution to enable camera. webcam
resolution was higher than default.
still have to resolve my no sound issue...so common, there are very many
possible alsa and alsa-pulseaudio related options.

Public bug reported:
installing xygrib-1.2.6-1build2 installs the binary for xygrib 1.2.5.
when the app is launched it warns that there is a newer version 1.2.6
available and to use the update tool found in the 'help' menu to update;
there is no update tool in the help menu.

The referenced commit did not apply cleanly to the version of
opencryptoki in Ubuntu 18.04 but I managed to same changes made and have
uploaded it to my PPA. Could you please test this version of
opencryptoki?

I have not (yet) experienced the issue you are describing, or any issues
for that matter. Maybe you can remove and re-insert i2c_hid when this
happens? Hopefully a fix of the GPIO driver is not too far off and will
resolve the stability issues you are experiencing.
