#1, but I had the owner delete the cache, and the crash went away, so
this confirms my suspicion that simple-scan isn't able to gracefully
handle a corrupted cache.

With the proposed patch for Focal, users who have customised the file in
/etc/cron.* (eg. by removing it) won't have that customisation
transferred to the systemd timer.

I just had the issue described here :
