That looks like a slightly different issue: the preinst script is
detecting that snapd is usable by checking for the existence of
/run/snapd.socket in the container/chroot. In your case it appears that
the socket exists, meaning that snapd is installed and running. But it
fails to contact the snap

feel free to close this and I will post something new if I see the issue

I found https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/485 , which
suggested this due to gvfsd-trash, and running `killall gvfsd-trash`
which does temporary solve the
Ehrm. I don't agree with editing the service file that comes from the
package and will get overwritten. Ensuring the correct order in the PAM
configuration is the correct fix here.

Yes please uninstall/disable all extensions other than the three Ubuntu
extensions. You can find them in the app called 'Extensions'.
Please also run:
cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell
rm -rf extensions
and then log out and in again to ensure there are no locally-installed
extensions.

The only gnome extension I use from your list is

I don't have the other extensions installed as you mentioned.

For those using preseed and having the same problem, a workaround is to
fix grub-installer in partman/early_command.
The following line in preseed.cfg will do the trick:

bug 1922034 is gnome-terminal specific. The upstream issue was
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1723.
But this bug is generic for any Wayland client. And it also has been
fixed in the 3.38 release.
Now, this very issue is tagged "fixed-in-3.36.8" which is not correct I think.
