they have the same version of both mutter and ibus. Something seems to
make Xwayland start at login, and hence ibus-x11 is also running.

This is almost certainly a bug in conky, since countless other apps
support Wayland sessions just fine. Reassigning.

oh, i should mention i tried running the 21.10 installer on the same
machine and (as expected) since no-one would know to disable their
trackpad before trying to install, this bug effectively makes 21.10
uninstallable on this hardware, so for installation purposes i'd call
the bug critical.

I'm seeing this on Impish on my machine. Kernel is 5.13.0-1008-raspi
#9-Ubuntu. Desktop comes up but then randomly freezes with the following

solve the security

Snap application did not start until app was reinstalled with 'snap
remove' + 'snap install'.
Two examples:
~$ lxc ls
cannot update snap namespace: open /proc/5482/cgroup: permission denied

It was fixed by pinning versions in Ubuntu 16.04.
It only just recurred in Ubuntu 20.04.
When I'm back in the office I will see if I can identify the versions
affected and whether rolling back packages fixed it again.

There's quite a lot that doesn't apply cleanly against the source in
bionic. I don't think I'm able to work through the issues with it
safely.
