All right, significant more testing... about 10 drive wipe reloads of
this test system. Finally I got the Xubuntu DVD from this past weekend
to produce a bootable HDD.

modem. lsusb and usb-devices both show the device, and dmesg shows it

Hello. Still having similar issue as of 5.16.12 kernel.
It appears that it does re-render the lock screen now as opposed to
5.13.0.30.33 kernel but it appears unresponsive and the driver crashes
right afterwards.

Upgrading from Kubuntu 16.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS introduced this bug into
my system, so I've gotten in the habit of pressing the physical Open
button just as the tray starts to close again, after which it doesn't
try a second time.
My hypothesis is that it's trying to read the drive after it opens,

I was going to add a copy of the libgail-3-0 package that was working
