I encountered this same 'sd card initialization error with low quality cards'
on omap-linux.

Grumbels PPA adds something more than only this patch, and it caused
warning for every startup, so I decided to open my own PPA.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:aapo-rantalainen/gimp26-noghostline
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp
It contains gimp from Ubuntu 11.10 and patch from post80,

a) apt-get doesn't have 'dist-update'
It has 'dist-upgrade'
b) According to the 'man apt-get' dist-upgrade is not about distro update, but
"also intelligently handles changing dependencies with new versions of packages"
