I have the same problem, using this Transcend card reader and a Samsung
8GB SD card when it is connected to the USB3 port of a Lenovo X220,
running quantal, and when conencted to a Gigabyte Z77D3H running
oneiric.
WHen the device is connected to USB2 port, everything is fine.

Searching for the versioned package names like blcr-dkms
0.8.2-15ubuntu1 should work, once the fix for ug 29713 lands. The main
issue was probably the bad processing of '-' in ftq().

I installed yesterday the 11.10 version of Kubuntu on a 2.5GHz Core2Duo
laptop with 4GB RAM. The install went without any problems, but after
I copied ca 200GB data (lots of plain text files -- developer machine --,
and a decent amount of PDF files, (Libre|Open)Office files
Turned out to be a BIOS problem: My machine had a Bios with a build date
sometimes in May 2011; I updated to version 1.21 (2011-09-07), and
everything is fine.

That's fin when the machine is idling, but if I run a program which
needs more procssor powr, I would xpect that the clock speed is

I find the UI quite confusing too.
The problem is even worse. If you want to perform the default action for
the notification updates are available, i.e., install the available
updates, you _must_ click the right buttons in the right order: First
Select all updates, then Apply.
If you forget one
I had exactly the same problem, on two machines (running Karmic), both
wth Gnome and KDE,and kdm being the default display manager. Disabling
/etc/init/failsafe-x.conf helped indeed.

I have an Epson Perfection V10 with which I can test.
Can Ubuntu cross reference its hardware registration database
and active Launchpad users to come up with a list of potential
testers for hardware like this? Perhaps good to start working on
a mechanism like this, or is it normal
Asking users if the would be willing to run some tests hardware-related
software packages is exactly one of the applications of our hardware
database we have in mind :)

At present, we don't have the perfect solution, but if
sigh, the 3 key of my keyboard is slightly broken... Also, I forgot
the quotes around two parameter values:

is better. USB IDs must be specfied as hex number, prefixed with '0x'
